Fresh from the heart of San Francisco, the duo excels at making ethereal pop in the spirit of The Arcade Fire, Stereolab, and Radiohead. Lead singer Christopher Owens was born in Florida and had an unusual childhood to say the least, as his parents were actively involved as members of the Children of God cult. Most of his childhood was spent drifting, moving from state to state and country to country. Many times even changing continents. After moving across Asia, Europe, and Puerto Rico, he became lost and disenfranchised with his bizarre and unsatisfying lifestyle. One faithful day, after catching a peak of American pop culture on TV, Christopher decided to break away from the cult and move to the United States to pursue music. By 16, Owens was playing on the street daily and honing his skills as a budding performer and songwriter. His travels eventually led him to meet JR White, a dedicated musician with a kind spirit. The two began jamming together and making music. Good music. GIRLS beautifully melds the international love for both alternative music and psychadelia and is a live show that is surely not to be missed.
